How it started

In 2022, during his master's thesis in Computer Engineering, we studied how scouting departments in Portugal actually operate day to day. S.C. Beira-Mar — a historic club — was the partner and the real case study.

What we found was familiar chaos: ratings scattered across Excel sheets, reports lost in email threads, no standard way to track players across age groups, and scouts working in silos with no shared structure. It wasn't a Beira-Mar problem — it was a Portuguese football problem.

The thesis became the blueprint. By the time the degree was done, there wasn't only academic research — there was a product vision. ScoutD came from that research: a platform built to solve the operational problems scouting departments face every day.

Our mission

ScoutD is not a generic data analytics tool. It is an operational scouting management platform, built for people who observe, coordinate and decide from information collected in the field.

The goal is simple: give scouts and clubs a more organised, private and consistent way to manage athletes, matches, observations and reports.

Pedro holds a master's in Computer Engineering. In 2022, his thesis in partnership with S.C. Beira-Mar became the foundation of ScoutD. Since then, he has been building the platform part-time while staying close to the scouting community in Portugal.

The path so far

2022

2022/2023

First prototype. The thesis becomes a product.

2024

Platform in active development. First conversations with clubs and sector partners.

2025

Development and preparation: solidifying the product before a public demo.

2026

Demo ready and available. This is the year we present ScoutD to clubs, federations, agencies, and academies.
